Visiting and exploring
- Where can I buy my pink ZXZW-sunhat?
- Well, we haven’t got pink sunhats, or funshirts, but you can find our merch at zxzwstore.com. During the festival you can buy our merch at the 013. Bandmerch will be sold in the place the band plays.
You can buy some good cd's and second hand vinyl at Sounds and lots of vinyl (12'' dance and experimental) at Antenne. - Ouchy! This band plays too loud!
- What!!?? Sorry, we can’t hear you! Just kidding! You can buy earplugs at every venue where bands play!
If you're an (relative) outsider: for some artists loundness is an essential aspect of their ethics and aesthetics. - How expensive is the beer?
- The prices of drinks vary from venue to venue, just like the brand of beer. Almost everywhere you pay something like 2 euro for a decent GLASS of 0,25 cl..
At 013 you pay with special 013-coins. The other venues only accept cash.
Of course venues don't allow that you bring your own beer in. But you can buy some booze at a local supermarket or liquor store and drink it somewhere else. - Ah! But can I return 013 coins at the end of the festival?
- Nope. But we’re sure you’ll make lots of friends who can buy them from you. Or donate them to the ZXZW-organisation!
- Almost thirty venues?! I can’t dance with hiking shoes on!
- That won’t be necessary. All venues are located in the centre of Tilburg, which is quite small. You won’t have to stop cabs or steal a bike to go to the next venue.
- Tilburg? Never heard of it. How do I get there?
- We’ve got all the information you want listed here.
- Dude, where can I park my car?
- Tilburg has a lot of parkingspaces. For instance: next to the 013 there is a multi-storey car park named Tivoli. You can folow the Parking-signs (P-centrum) for different parkingspaces near or in the centre of the city.
Parking on Sunday
The centre of Tilburg will be closed for cars on Sunday the 21st of September from 12 to 6 o’clock due to Car Free Sunday!!! - The 21st of September is Car Free Sunday. How do I get to Tilburg by car?
- We provided a parkingspace at Stappegoor (Ice Skate Rink). We will take care of free shuttle busses to the citycentre (Heuvel). The last shuttle bus back to the parking will leave at 0.00 (midnight) from Heuvel.
Pick-up points at both Ice Skate Rink and Heuvel are easily visible. - I’m hungry!
- We’ve got all the nice restaurants listed here. Stay tuned for special mealdeals!
- I’m sleepy! Where can I pitch my tent?
- We haven’t got a festival camping. So no beer fueled late night sessions with -or from- strange neighbors playing keep on rocking in a free world at their just purchased djembe. We’ve listed all the places you can lay your head right here .
- Drukqs
- Is a record by Aphex Twin. In Holland it's alowed to use soft drugs, which you can buy legally at coffee shops. Best in town are The Grass Company and Toermalijn. Hard drugs are always forbidden.
- In what kind of venues does the festival take place?
For artists and attendees the best shows are intimate shows. That's why we use small venues with a maximum capacity of 400 people. But most venues are much smaller.
Of course each venue has a decent PA system and the best and friendliest staff around.
- What else is there to do?
- Apart from the festival there are a lot of things to do in Tilburg. From hardcore beer drinking in pubs to smoking your chronic in a typical Dutch coffee shop. There is also a some beautiful nature around and much and much more. We'll update this section soon!
- Do you have signing sessions?
- No. But most artists sell their cd or record themselves after their performance. So just ask them.
Contribute to ZXZW
- I’m in a band. Can I play?
- Then contact Frank and Vince at booking at ZXZW dot NL, Please check the lineup of ZXZW first. We’re not your average fun loving, head wearing, feel good festival in the sun. We actually have specific artistic ideas about our lineup. If you think you can meet the criteria, then you can apply for a slot at the festival. We only have a few slots left. The competition is fierce. So don’t get your hopes on. We love new music and listen to every demo or MySpace page carefully, but don’t expect us to reply every time. No news is bad news.
- Volunteer
- ZXZW team of 100+ volunteers work alongside staff members on many aspects of our programs and operations.
You want to host artists in your home?
Help us with publicity like distributing posters or flyer at concerts and shows?
Help us with production?
Usher at exhibitions?
Drive artists around?
Maybe you have other ideas how you can help us, because there's a lot to do.
Of course volunteers get festival tickets, a festival shirt, food and drinks and a cool volunteer party in exchange for their work.

Other
- I don’t like the left/rightwing politic views of a band. Why did you invite them?
- We try to show you art (be it music, film, theatre, visual or otherwise) that originates in underground scenes and (sub)cultures. The artist’s ways of dealing with life and art might not be your preferred choice.
The ideas, meanings and intentions of artists participating in the festival are not necessarily our own. We feel it’s important to highlight different aspects of cutting edge art, even though the imagery displayed or styles shown might offend others. Please be aware of that risk within the artistic choices we make as a festival.
Like our teachers told us: contradictions like positivism and negativism, sperm and blood have always been central themes in art; from The Old Testament till Dante's Inferno, from Monteverdi till Motorhead and from Jesus till GG Allin.
Parody, irony, pastiche, deconstruction, the anti-aesthetic are some of the techniques. (Anti)utopism and the quest for pure honesty and pure evil are some of the themes. The response may say as much about the receipent's mind as it says about the sender. - When and where does my favourite band play?
- The timetable will be up for downloading as soon as we have all the acts booked. During the festival there are timetables and special ZXZW-maps of the centre of Tilburg. Availlable at the main entrence or at the venue 013.
- I’m press/ industry. Can I come in for free?
- ZXZW promotes independent culture. Not only the participating artists but also the fanzines, blogs, magazines, newspapers, radio stations etc.. are responsible for the vibrant scene. You want to come? Submit your accreditation request on www.zxzw.nl/press/
If you're an important industry person: research costs (also the booz) are tax deductable. Just ask your accountant (-: - Can I take pictures of the bands?
- We don't have a strict policy. But maybe a certain band has. Always contact Tijs Heesterbeek (tijs at ZXZW dot NL or +31-(0)6-42212213) when you have doubts.
- Hey, two artists are performing at the same time and I want to see both!
- Well: You're at a festival. We try to schedule the artists that most genres don't
overlap. But hey, there are more than 200 slots, so you can better run and enjoy the luxory.
