The Decoder Ring Design Concern is a multidisciplinary design partnership based in Austin, Texas. The studio was founded in 2004 on a boldly simple mission statement: "Do work we love for clients we admire."
With an approach that's equal parts strategy, experimentation, collaboration and play, Decoder has quickly grown to become a celebrated and respected force in the creative industry. The studio's bold, unconventional and sometimes irreverent solutions have received accolades from esteemed design publications and organizations like AIGA, Communication Arts, Graphis, The Art Directors Club of New York, Step, ID and Metropolis.
Each project Decoder tackles, large or small, is crafted carefully by hand and treated as their definitive creative effort. The result is communication that not only creates culture, but affects the bottom line. The list of folks who have benefited from that shot in the arm includes Leo Burnett Worldwide, Levis Jeans, Toyota Yaris, HBO, Sony BMG & Epic Records, The New York Times, South By Southwest, Modest Mouse, Dave Matthews Band, Erykah Badu and Wilco.
The Design Concern is supported by a partnership with Decoder Prints, a fine-art serigraph studio and home to the renowned Decoder Prints Artists Series. The ongoing collaborative project hosts famed artists, designers and creative thinkers for residencies throughout the year. Past collaborators include Jay Ryan, Gary Baseman, Tara McPherson and Dalek.
