>> Acoustic Noise

Date: Sunday 23 September 15:00 - 19:00 at Tilburg innercity

Noise Music is ancient. It started out as just noise for noise without any meaning or to scare spirits away. Think of the rattler used in the synagogue when the name Jaweh is mentioned for instance. Within contemporary noise many instruments are used. Ranging from modified guitars and guitar effects to make the loudest racket imaginable to scratched records, modified synths or contact or piëzo microphones. But is that really necessary to reach your goal? To surround your audience with abrasive sound?

That is the question being asked by Steffan de Turck (also known under his alias Staplerfahrer), who will attempt to research the field of acoustic noise with international noise musicians in as many ways as possible. To define the poetics of racket. But what can you expect? Metal on metal, rocks grinding, whistles and wood, screaming, yelling and all things mechanical. The Scottish band Usurper even uses the squeeking of their shoes against concrete and ripping tape of various materials. And let’s not forget the classic fingernail on blackboard sound.

Many possibilities, which will be used by the musicians right in the streets. This will be full-on acoustic assault on the ears. No electricity, no amps. So get closer…

Participating noisemakers will be Danielle Lemaire, Kapotte Muziek, Vulvax, Bas Verbeek and The Temple of Bon Matin.
