Welcome to ZXZW, an anual festival for independent culture in Tilburg, The Netherlands. 2007 is our third year and what originally started out as a 'small' festival for underground bands, has grown to a diverse view on indie culture as a whole, including contemporary dance, film and visual arts. ZXZW is an indoor festival, held in small clubs, galleries, pubs etc all over the city centre. This year the event has grown to a full week, starting Sunday 16th of september and ending with a weekend of over 120 shows by bands from all music genres from all over the world. You can expect everything from breakcore, punk, noise to experimental pop, free-jazz, singer/songwriters, sound experiments, dance and metal. In the week before you can see a filmprogram by Marc Webber, guitarist of the UK pop icons Pulp and who is now active as an independent film curator. Go see an exhibition on punk/hardcore fanzines at Scryption, a museum dedicated to the written word, hear a lecture by our consultant in residence Mark Hosler (original member of copyright liberators Negativland) at The Pont and even go Heavy Metal Bowling. We hope you'll enjoy this year's edition as much as we will, get in touch with us if you're a local and if you want to help us out by having a band crash at your place. We can always use your help on promotion, also suggestions are always welcomed. |
